I have had a 55 gallon tank, that was previously used by me, in my AZ garage for the past two years. Been out there in killer summers and cold winters. I want to set the tank up again; do I need to worry about the silicon going bad? Should I reseal the tank?

Thanks!

Depends really, how old and bad does the seals look? will it easily peel up anywhere? If you can start peeling silicone off with just your finger with no real force, then it needs a reseal, as it shouldn't come up unless you get the razor blades out...

Otherwise if all seems good, then give it a test fill in the garage.

Great post... couldn't have said it better myself :D

An hours work and ten bucks worth of silicone. Not a bad price for piece of mind.

Think I would just follow chemicall's advise though.
