I found some used filters cheap, they were cleaned out and boxed up. After I got them, I washed them again with hot water and vinegar and they have been drying now for a couple days. Do I need to worry about anything form the old tanks contaminating my tank? I would think anything on it would have all died when the filter was dried out, just wanted to make sure before I put them in.

That's what I was considering, but I wasn't sure if bleach would be overdoing it since it's been dry for awhile anyhow. If it wasn't sitting out for weeks dry before I got them (I know where they came from so I know they were dry that long) I would do a soak in bleach solution. As it is, I'm replacing the tubes on the canister just so I don't have to deal with trying to bleach the stains out or worry I missed some crud. Just wanted to cover all my bases so I don't have to medicate a big tank. Maybe I will just bleach it anyhow so I feel better...

I was a bit concerned that some bleach water would get stuck in the motor housing, I guess I can Prime the rinse water heavy and run it awhile too.

Howdy,

If the filters were completely dry and you rinsed them, then there is no reason to bleach.

You're good to go.
