boxlotfish thanks for link..

ok maybe i can get some help with this here when i tested my water lastnight these are the results..

nitrite= 1.0 OR 5.0 its kinda hard to tell as these 2 colors are so close on the card but if i had to choose one id lean more toward the 1.0 color and when i asked 4 other ppl 3 said the 1.0 the other said 5.0 soooo..

nitrate= 5.0

ph= 7.6

ammonia= 0

i havent tested water yet since i did my water change about 30 mins ago but should that have helped bring them down? an how long after the change should i wait to re-test?

Most of the test kits are useless after you add the chemicals to neutralize the bad stuff. I rely on my Humic acids to take care of the problems. Humic feeds the gram positive bacteria and kills the gram negative bacteria. Usually the cool water will kill off the good gram positive that effects your bio filter and causes an excess of Nitrates. Also the Humic acids will set thing right in your water, and given a few day, remove the chemicals that you use for a temporary fix.

I am probably the worlds leading expert on Humics in fish water so if there are any questions about humic then don't rely on finding any expert advice. If you find some info then please let me know. I am running out of new study and if I am not learning something new every day then study tends to get put on the back burner.
