Situation:
i put two big dats, 1 foot + into the jardinii tank
at first jardinii was scared of them, they were double its girth and same length.
then after awhile, jar was harassing gently.then after the next day, jar was harassing more heavily, .... then i came back a few hours later, complete peace! the jar turns around, ad there is a bite mark on it from the defence of the dat.
the dat never attacked first, i saw it happen, only because the jar keeps harassing the dat fights back.
now ,after this even, the jar leaves them alone, completely, just swimming past them peacefully. the dats always left it alone, just goes abou its business.
i took out the dats nad put in another tank.
in the jar tank are 2 silver dollars, flagtail, metynis, 2 tinfoil barbs. if i put the two dats again,

1) do you think the jar will remember that he should leave them alone?
2) will the jar attack again adn then get bitten then leave it alone again.
3) if number 2 happens, will the jar leave them alone cos he knows they can hurt hhim or will it attack again when it recovers?

well thats just something up to what your jardini is thinking....it something we can teach them to do unlike hand feeding....this is just something that only goes to what natures gives at coarse...you can go ahead and put the dats back right in the tank with the jardini as he should do nothing but leave them alone....just as long as you don't keep the dats out of the tank too long for the jardini to forgot about it leaving them alone....if you return them back together...they should remain at peace like before...but well thats just the case of those 2 species of fish...Hope this helps and have the Greatest Of lucks with your jardini and dats =D

IMO: i guess it would depend on how long you keep them in seprate tanks (seperated longer he would probably forget) ...if you threw them back in then i would go with ...option #2 ...i think he would probably try to bully them again as he continues to grow bigger...he's only a foot long now, right? ..he would, probably grow faster then the dats also..

if it only a foot i think it will soon attack again i a couple of months. thats what mine did

I notice that mine also will sometime disturb the other tankmates in the tank.

the jar won't remember and attack regardless
it's better to introduce the jar last, or perhaps re-introduce the jar to the tank later.
i think the more time you leave the jardini by itself the more aggressive it becomes

k, well how bout this
the dats are both same length if not longer, and the girth of the body is twice as thick, basically the dats are twice as big as the jardinii.

i think all agressive fish will attack any new comer regardless of the fish being its tank mate in the past
