My buddy is buying my dads old 125 gallon tank and it doesnt have the center supports is that bad or no. I've heard the older tanks dont need them due to the thincker glass compared to todays tank.

Some tanks, even still today, are built without a center brace. Is it built to not have one, or did it have one that is gone now?

the tank was taking down a long time ago like in the 80's and hasnt been used since. been in the basement just sitting there. he sold the lid and stand when he took it down.

If it's been sitting since the 80's I'd be concerned with more then just that center brace. IE: is the silicone dry rotted? Does the whole tank need to be resealed? The center brace can be fixed by making a euro-brace if need be. But first I'd be weary about every seal on that tank.
