So I have some "red crystal" platies. They came from a tank of multiple varieties. However the female gave birth recently, and the fry are indeed of her variety, so I am assuming she got pregnant in whatever broodstock tank she came from at the fish farm and was not at the fish store for very long. My concern was that the female got pregnant from one of the males of a different color since she gave birth after only being in my tank for a week (less than half the normal gestation period), but that was obviously not the case. However I don't doubt that she has some sperm stored from the other males she probably bred with. Will she go through this storage before using sperm from the male I have her with or will she have fry from my male from now on? My assumption is that she will, since from a biological standpoint I'd have to assume that she assumes the other males she bred with now no longer exist/are dead to her, so it would make more sense from that perspective to have fry from a male that is still "alive".
