Do loaches eat slime coats?

I recently bought a 5in. yoyo loach (never seen one this big before!) and he seems to hang around my frt a bit much. I was wondering if he could possibly eating the frt's slim coat.:(

Anybody ever hear of this?
 
Not in my experience, but I wouldn't be surprised.
