I love Fx5's. But the one i own has been shooting micro bubbles out for the past 4 months. I had already run a thread on how to fix the problem. Ive tried all the methods ever mentioned. No filter pads, not packed full of media, changed both input and output tubing. I clean the canister and the bubbles go away for about two weeks. I'm not interested in doing a complete canister cleaning every two weeks. I'm just gonna let it happen.

Will the micro bubbles hurt the fish? I have tons of water movement at the top, three air stones powered by a powerful air pump, and my parameters are perfect.

Arr they just air bubbles??? Cause if they are its going to hurt anything! Only help the oxygen levels if anything. And unless you want to your canister should be moving the surface area enough for sufficient o2 exchange as where the air stones are unneeded. They dont do anything more then stir up the surface!

Wht kind of filter padding are u using? Sounds like its clogging up quick causing the bubbles.

Or u just need to clean it out every 2 weeks

If its not oxegen i dont know what else it could be. A lot of people put air stones in their tank to improve oxegen levels. Are u trying to say that adding air stones dosent help the oxegen level?

Again, i dont use filter pads. Im not asking for advice on how to stop the canister from blowing bubbles. IVE TRIED EVERYTHING! And cleaning a canister every two weeks defeats the purpose of a low mantinace large tank. I set up a 24/7 constant water change system that changes 70gal on it own per day so it would be smaller water changes.

No it will not hurt the fishes.
Never used an air-stone, I think it's better to get surface movement from a canister-filter. Also the air-pumps always seems so loud.

Lol! Try unplugging and tilting the cannister to the side with the inner affixed pipe,it make's sense that as the lid is placed on top there would be a slight gap, causing an "air" pockett, plug in while tilted,i look at it as a cup exhausting its air.i had this prob with my fx5 and tried everything too, and this finnally worked ,i only use bio and sponges in mine, and use an aq110 with filter floss for the fine debris,i get better flow and no more micro bubbles

I was thinking a bad seal too. If its on a vacuum end its not going to leak bit it would make bubbles. And ya the stones are more comsmetic than usefull. If your filtering is sufficient then your filter will move the water enough.
