do mirrors really make cichlids hump bigger?

just a question cause somebody told me that it does cause they think its another fish and it gets there testosterone going crazy.:feedback:
 
Yeah, I've heard that as well. As for the exact reason I'm not sure, but I think by them seeing another fish it makes them want to display dominance (larger hump) more than when kept alone and no other fish in the tank. I know a lot of people do this with FH's and midas'.

All the flowerhorn shops here have mirrors in their tanks and all their flowerhorns have big ass humps. coincidence???

i think they do i have seen pics of the fh farms and every tank has a mirror and they all got big humps. all my tanks are in a row so the cichlids can see each other and they flare up at their compatesion thus replacing the mirror and all my devils got killer humps so i think it just has to do with displaying hostilaty.
 
Yep, that's how all the flowerhorn shops are usually setup.
