Well I finally have time to work on my tank after a horrible loss. I'm focusing on my 80gal long (I have pics of how it used to be.) It will remain brackish, but I've learned SO much from then to now and I want this tank to have plants, mangroves specifically.

Questions:
1. can the plants thrive completely submerged?
2. are they edible to fish like scats?
3. are they difficult to maintain or do they require special lighting?
4. the SG of my tank will be around 1.013 up to 1.020, are all mangroves brackish compatable?
5. are they fast growing plants? My dream tank will look like a mangrove root system and I want that!

Since this will be planted (or at least I hope) I'm planning on removing the top of the tank and installing strip lighting on the wall or ceiling above the tank. The problem with a topless tank is that it will also house eels again, so I may have to reconsider.
