i'm starting my own planted tank ,
i read about diy co2 bottles ,
i tried doing it , and the **** almost went in my tank ,
i tried thrice now , so i was wondering , cn i substitute co2 for something else ?

cheers :D

No, it isn't needed. But ANY and EVERY tank will benefit greatly from it. For me, I love having co2 in my tanks to get lush, fast growth. If you take your time and do your research on plant needs and lighting, you can create a beautiful tank without one drop of co2.

Well, they need CO2, yes, but they don't need you to provide it. There's a sticky here in the planted section about how as long as other requirements are met, plants will do very well even in natural CO2 levels.

In the natural world, all plants need CO2 just like humans need water. In a planted tank though, the plants don't always need us to provide the CO2.
