I have high nitrates and I heard that plants can help to lower nitrates. Is This True? Or was I miss-informed.

true:: nitrates are a food source for plants but to make a big dent in the nitrates you need at least a plant per gallon though their is some plants which soak up large amounts of nitrates they also remove ammonia and nitrites cant go wrong with plants imo..

Plants will not function in very high nitrates. Very high nitrates will cause plants to die, which will make the problem worse. Plants are mostly for show, and will only make a small dent in the nitrates.

Plants need some nitrate, but not too much. But mangroves can be used as a nitrate filter, they do remove nitrate.

pplants do remove nitrats effectively but they do not remove ammonia and nitrites thats what the filters are there for. If you want some efficient plants try fast growers..
