... because mine does. I was under the impression that pleco's were herbivours and isn't beef heart for carnivours? My red zebra won't even touch the beef heart but my pleco goes right to it. Even when there are veggies in the tank he seems to prefer the beef heart over all else

I don't think it's relevent but here is a picture of my pleco (sorry for the quality issue, i had to use the camera on my phone and it's a little shabby):

Looks like you have a little Goldspot L001 pleco.

They are pretty much omnivores and will eat anything. They should have a mostly vege diet or they may develop digestive problems, they bloat up and die

But some high protien stuff is fine, mine like to chow down on a prawn occasionally.

As they get bigger they seem to eat less algae and veges and more meaty food.

Cheers

Ian

I dunno about a Goldspot but it has the shape of a Rhino plec but had the fins of a Bristlenose. Either way your plec will love the meaty stuff. Just limit it.

oh i do. i offer him either zucci and cucumber as well as the odd algae wafer. just when i feed the other fish and they leave some behind he goes right for the beef heart

Sounds like you are feeding him right then, a little bit of extra protein in their diet is good.

Mine love white button mushrooms as well. :)
