Just wondering whether my Peru Motos would be disturbed by a lot of water current or flow in the tank.Tank is 5x3x2 214 us gallons and as a plumber I've sourced a nice pump to make a sump system that would return around 500 usg per hour.

I agree they enjoy current..

but I have always wondered.. do they also enjoy an area that has no current?

In most cases, the tank is big enough to allow space for both.. but for smaller setups it might be misleading.. Too much current and the ray can never rest, and will get stressed?

Yes, current is appreciated, but I have kept many rays in very low current tanks as well. But all things considered, 500gph in a 214gal is not a strong current at all. Is 500gph the initial power of the pump or is that what you have calculated after all head is considered? I would say that true return flow of 1000gph would be the borderline of too high of a flow rate in a 5' x 3'.
