hey i was wondering if rays need a certain tank height...i found a pond online its 8ftX4x1ft i was thinking of trying to breed rays but is that tank to little of height

If its like a foot high im pretty sure it'll probably just swim out by accident when it tries to scale the wall.

It sound like a very nice tank. Consider replicating a back water area with root s, stained water neons and a small motoro or two. Small meaning 4-8 inches.

If you want larger rays in it you may need to apply some sort of do-it-yourself rim. Rays get frisky and sometimes test the limits of their tanks accidently.:)

By "back-water" I am referring to the sloughs; slow moving dense structure areas where juvenile fish are found mostly safe from predators.

Some neons, plecs, corys, hatchets and a small motoro or three.
Just my humble opinion.
FireMedic.

if you plan on keeping large ones in it you will need to make some sort of cover for it

yeah i was thinking of a net or something so it would be good though?

IMO yeah the footprint is good, but you would def need a lid, there really isnt a requirment on height, its not the best but... it will def work

i wouldnt do anything under 24"

okay thanks im either buying this or DIY im not sure yet i have to price it out

Do an estuary/slough/back-water tank....do it, do it, do it, do it, do it!!

Sorry, to much caffeine.
I have had complex fantasies about owning a tank with similar dimensions so please forgive my exuberance!

(hmmm....mangrove shallows........hmm tidal pool.........hmmmm mermaids...err. Oops, wrong fantasy) :D
