I am thinking about a small small powerhead for a little current in my tank. I have the HOB Emperor filter on the left, high power air stone in middle, and I was thinking a PH on the right blowing middle/left (if that makes sense).

The fish I have are in my sig. I just want to know if it's worth it or not. If it will stress them out, then of course not, but if they will enjoy I will do it next check.

Any advice would be great.
Nick

I have seen in one instance (JK47's temporary setup 125 gallon with 2 FX5s while he was finishing his 300 gallon) where a severum seemed stressed by a lot of current. But that was one instance with one fish, and the currents were opposing each other (if I'm remembering correctly). I think a single current from one side of the tank to the other would be ok as long as it's not too strong.
I really like my koralia evolution powerhead and that's the brand I would recommend. They put out a wide, gentle flow and consume a very low amount of power. I think the 550 or 750 gph models would be good for a 55.

OK very good. I figure the tetras would have fun too.
Thanks for the rec on the PHs

Sevs definitely don't NEED current, but I think most fish would benefit from some decent water movement. I've had a lot of sevs over the years and the only current my tank has is that from the water pouring in from the filters. They have always been big, healthy, and active.

I have 2 koralia 1050s on my 125g and my sev doesn't seem to mind

Currently I have 1 on each side in the upper rear corners with 1 aimed along the back and the other aimed towards the front corner on the opposite side of they tank. I have also had them on the back glass top and centered aimed at the front corners. Neither placement bothered any of the fish. When I bought the koralias the fish would try swimming directly into the currents like kids in a wave pool.

"kids in the wave pool" is what I am going for.
I want them to enjoy it, not avoid it - kinda like a present for them, lol.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I will pick one up soon and try it out.

I have a 1400 gph koralia evo and an FX5 in my 90 gallon right now. There's a BIT of current in that 4 foot tank. ;)
If I don't have the powerhead aimed at the front glass, it creates a giant crater in the sand.
The argentea and clown loaches like it. I was just recommending slightly lower flow based on something I'd seen, but I'm sure that doesn't apply to every fish.

Severums Prefer slower moving water. Just putting on my .02
