what i mean by this is that do some naturally agressive fish become less agressive to their tankmates after being with them for a while? For example i bought two red flamingo peacock cichlids (which are debatable cuz ive found no info on them and they look like red devils) anyhow when i first placed these two in my tank with 2 yellow labs and two albino zebras. they where extremely terretorial and would not let anyone near there hiding spot. the one basically owned a third of the tank by itself. so i eventually became sick of this because they started locking lips. so i rearranged the decour added another piece of driftwood and a couple rocks. now its been about a week and a half and the two reds are like best buddies and dont even pick at the other cichlids. hell the albino zebra actually does all the bullieing anymore. so i was wondering if this is typical? or if its just temporary and thell go back to the way they where?

my fish seem to accept others after a while, and a big help i've found is to raise up aggressive fish together, lol i still have a school of pearl danios (my cycle fish, were in the tank first) in with my africans and its been about 7months now. they've never even bothered to try and chase them.

We have fish that for whatever reason hate each others one minute and the next are ok. fish can change aggression also depending on if they are going from juveniles to adult or maybe pairing up. Deviding the aggressor away for a bit then realsing him will put him on the bottom of the chain and they might fight less. it took us 4 tried of divide and release to get this specific fish rom getting shredde , eventually the tnak mates just accepted him i guess.

I suggest keeping fish from the same location and same temperment and not to hope they get along or adjust to other fish. ;)

yea im new to the hobby and went by what my local fish dealer said and figured i bought red flamingo peacocks but now doing my research im not so sure what they are so im gonna play it out for a little while and hope everythings turns out fine. but if those fish get extremely aggressive or over 6in. there goin back. just wish i knew something about a red flamingo because there breeder or wherever they get them is calling them red flamingo peacocks and actually there getting more this week. so im kind of stuck right now just hope my fish get along and learn from all this. But thanks everyone for the input helped me out a lot.

if u post pics someone can properly id them for u :)

yes that makes much more sense but for u who want pics these where actually on here before but use your own judgement. they look like devils or midas's but they do keep getting more n more blue to them on the dorsal and tail fin. blue spots actually on the tail. but here ya go.
