Ive got a question..
Ive got a 2+ year old Motoro Ray. She has has one set of pups already (last December 31st)

She is preg again. Sometime just after her last litter.
She has not gotten very big this time, so my wife thinks she may only be having one, but time will tell.

So this is what I have going on. She has been digging ALOT. But only in one area of the tank.
She always digs this area up. Moves all the sand and the large rocks that are there to hold the airlines down I having running across the back of the tank.
I know rays dig. No new keeper to ray. I just can not figure out, why ONLY her (not the male) ONLY digs in this one shot of the tank. ALL THE TIME....
I fix it, she digs it back up..
Wife thinks he may be nesting, but Ive never heard of rays nesting and we should still have about 3 weeks before she delivers. She has been doing this for two weeks now. Does this before, after feedings, so she is not looking for food. And its only in this one spot.

Water reading are were they are supose to be. Like I said, I am not a new ray owner. Just never had one do this as much as she does.

I also have a 2 year old Motoro female who had her first litter of 3 on January 8. She did exactly the something your gal is doing a few weeks prior to giving birth. She is showing movement again but hasn't started the nesting type behavior yet.

My female motoro does this when she is far along. She likes to dig a bowl shaped hole that matches her fat belly. Then she is able to rest in the depression in comfort. When I had her in a bare bottom tank she wore a sore onto her belly buldge.

Makes since

To answer the question, rays do NOT nest.

Its just weird how there are three on here all doing the same thing. It may not be called nesting, but its something..

They are not making a nest in the sense that a bird would. It's more like they are making a comfortable bed to lay in. Nothing more than that

My prego girls never did this but they do some crazy stuff. Bite holes in air lines, spit water out the top of the tank, and walk on the lids of the tank
