I have a good number of large cichlids 16" male umbee, 9" male umbee, 10" tetracanthus, 13.5" wild dovi pair and 3 pairs of black nasty an more just a few on my list but i would like to no do the sun light help there color any when i open my shades in the morning for a few hours other then alge growing on the tank do that help the fish in any way.

Sunlight makes a huge difference in coloration...... You can test it for yourself by putting them outside in a pond for the summer. In just a day or so you'll see the difference.

Of course, some of it is diet related, but most fish improve in coloration almost immediately, much earlier than any change in diet can metabolize and make a big difference.

I agree my fish seem to perk up a little in the morning when the sun catches their tanks. Nothing major of course and probably not really measureable- they just "seem" to like it lol.

theres a difference in color but really all it does is make your tank grow algae on its walls alot faster
