Do Synodontis multipunctatus sting?

I found one of my larger clown loaches dead. The others are doing fine. He had good color when I found him. He had no lesions or torn fins. My water is as follows.
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-5 ppm
ph-7.2
The only thing I could think of was he was maybe stung by one of my 5 synodontis multipunctatus, but I thought I would have seen a swollen area or something. It bothers me when I can't figure it out because then I can't fix it and I worry about the other fish. Any ideas would help.

Maybe it was from old age if it was quite big, but then sometimes these things happen.

Doubt that, clown loaches can live up to 50 years.

i highly doubt it as well. especially if there were no lesions. could have been a number of other causes.
