Hi,
Well when i first got my Id sharks i did not think about the long tern financial committement it would require upgrading the tank and eventualy getting a custom tank made and get the floor renforced and all the food they can eat. I did not even think that i would run out of place to put the tank. I know why people sometimes cringe to see this fish in the trade because long term needs are almost never met.
But i always heard about horror stories of those fish being serial killer for water heater and that they would ram into the side of the tank knocking themself out. You know bumping into the decorations because they are very skittich fish. This is not something i have experienced. Yes they sometimes splases water when i do a water change or if i turn on the ligh too quickly. But most of the time they are very friendly and outgoing. I have a shaul of them and they basicaly always hang together at the top of the water. On the side of my bed because this is where i feed them. WHen i get close to the tank they go there and smell at the surface of the water expecting food.
They are always swiming with no rest and they are always hungry but i really can'T say that they are so skittish like people make them out to be. Maybe because they feel confined into a too small tank ? That is the closes i will come that to own a true marine shark. Only the small banded catfish shark is like keepable in a tank but still reaches 4 feet. Id sharks are shark looking only smaller than a true marine shark but they still got a catfish mouth and wiskers I also have a black shark that is a meanie and try to bite the id sharks sometimes.
