i run my main lights on 12hours a day. i run my actinics for 14hours a day, on 1 hour before my main lights turn on and off 1 hour after. then the nightviews come on.

on my hood i only have 4-3w led actinics.

what do u do?

i run my actinics most of the day and my whites when i want to look at stuff better. but im gettin a new fixture and that will prob change. but you seem like your doin it right. actinics simulate the twilight of the day so your good :)

My actinics get turned off when my daylight spectrums turn off. ~12 hours cycle

Mine come on 2 hours before the regular lights and shut off 2 hours after the regular lights go off.

I do about a half how before and after with my actinics. You definitely are doing it right and should keep them on all day. They are providing a different wavelength for whatever you have living in your tank. As far as it making a sunrise sunset scenario, there is no benefit for animals within your tank, it is just pleasing to our eyes. So it is not necessary, but I do it anyway. I like seeing some of my corals that glow under just actinics for a little while at night.

I run my actinics with my daylights, but the actinics come on 30min before the daylights and shut off 30 min after the daylights.

In a tank with 'tinics I like them on at least an hour before and after the MH period.

Good for a couple things...different observations...cool colors etc.
