I've got a 150g, 4'x2'x30"tall tank. Nothing in it yet. I really like the wild caught Jags that Jeff Rapps sells, i think the coloration is much more attractive than captive bred ones.

Do you think a single or 2, at the most, wild Jags would make good tankmates with either a loisellei or a friedricksthalli or even an eartheater or two??

Just didnt know how wild Jags would react with tankmates, or if they were better solo fish

I would suggest solo for that fish. I don't think fish have that concept of friends, even less for wild caught

get them young and raise them together, should be fine IMO and experience....typically Jags are fine with tank mates in a big enough tank and if raised together.

I raised mine from 2 to about 7 inches together currently, and at first they bullied each other, but now thier always swimming at each others side. However, I have seen older larger ones just be plain nasty to each other. If your going to do it, your best bet is to raise them together like sicxspeed said imo.

Wild jags are finiky but not too bad. I have a male from Rapps that lives in a 150 with a barred midas and a trimac mix. It did take a lot of switching cichlids around. The reg
texas was being brutalized by the jaguar and had to be moved. So, just try things out but be prepared to rescue a cichlid in need. I love the w/c.

well that is a lot of gallonage but not a big footprint. i would say you could have one male or a few females. 4 foot by 2 feet isn't big enough of a footprint for a couple males in my opinion. I think you could have jags with other fish, but if you get a mean one it could easily turn on the tankmates.
