I've noticed lately that my rays don't eat worms with the same gusto that they used to. Tonite they wouldn't eat worms at all. One chewed on a worm but gave up. No problem eating other foods.

I'm wondering if the taste of the worms has changed? A result of the types of foods the worms are eating? Has anyone had their rays stop eating worms like this?

THe worms are red wrigglers and I feed them small pieces of carrot, lettuce, cucumber, other veggies from a bag of salad, and corn meal.

id be trying to get them on other foods anyway.

could be a number of factors.
but if your rays are still eating well.

do not worry.

could be something up with this batch or something.

They eat shrimp, tilapia, mysids, and squid as well. Worms are for variety.
As for trying one myself, I will pass on that...

pellets all the way :naughty:

ive had rays change what they like from time to time. they just like something else better sometimes and if there well fed they leave what they dont fancy at the time.

if there eating well on other foods dont worrie.

what the worm eats will affect the taste of the worm.

Haven't had any luck with getting them to eat pellets.

feed the worms pellets and see what happens ;)

That is actually a really good idea. It could be that the rays are just in need of a break from them. Have you changed how you prepare your worms in the last little bit?
