Quarantine Tank
There seems to be a debate as to whether or not one should add salt to a ray tank. What do you do?

umm interesting...

Very such varied results I would think that their might be some discussion on this?

Anybody???

So then why do people add before any sign of illness? Any benefits???

I think it has to do with the salt in their blood vs. salt in the water or something like that?

im not really sure though...???

Salt is one of the few ray-safe medications.. A great 'cure-all' and stress reliever. Has alot of proven benefits such as osmoregulation, slime coat stimulation, disease prevention.

I have had small rays pull out of death curl before.. All that was used was Heat, Salt, and a covered tank with no stress.

i put salt for newly acclimated rays and those that have fungal infections.
Its a great tonic for fw rays.

I have a friend with frontosas (i know not sting rays) but he ads some epsome salts every water change and has never had sickness with his fish. He also breeds them so that plays a part in why he is trying to do a lil preventative medicine. I would say its a good idea.
