do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Agree. Most large carnivoris fish can eat red meats....though it's not good for them because of the high fat content

Disagree.
Feeding a frozen cube a beef heart as part as a variety in their diet is fine. But to use it,or other mammals as a staple, will not be good in the long run.
It is also my understanding that they have trouble digesting the bones of mammals.

I believe it depends on the fish. I also think it sould NOT be a staple in any fishies diet. Unless of course there is a fish out there that strictly eats terrstrial prey. Carnivourous or not there is a difference in digesting the protiens of fish and other aquatic life and those of non-aquatic life.

In the spirit of imitating nature to the best of my ability, I have excluded most terrestrial vertebrate meat from my fish diets. However, my Oscar does enjoy the occasional tiny piece of boiled chicken. Perhaps once every two months or so. About as often as an Oscar might be lucky enough to stumble across a dead rodent or bird. Otherwise, worms, insects and algae are the foundation of most good fish diets. I use pellets 80% of the time because of cost but I would much rather feed my fish tons of live insects and such. But not mammal meat. It doesn't make sense. To me, based on my philosophy. But apparently somebody raises discus on a diet exclusively comprised of beef heart. Draw your own conclusions. My mind is made up.

Put in such a straightforward manner I have to, in a straightforward manner, disagree.

The statement is "process", not "is good for". So, yes, fish can process mammalian meat. If they couldn't process the meat, it would be like eating styrofoam peanuts.

Disagree. Diet should mimic nature. look what happened when we started feeding cattle animal by products. yes they could digest it. does that make it right? Are new strange diseases an acceptable consequence??

"Actually some fish are quite capable of processing mammalian meat."

Put in some and I agree. A guppy I don't think will be ripping shreds of a dead bird in the wild apart for din din anytime soon but larger agressive fish easily. Why do arowana's jump not to catch a fly(which I'm sure it could if it wanted to) but to get some real dinner like a bird or other smaller animal made of meaty goodness.
