Is it really worth it to raise a .75" fish to 3" just to save a few bucks? I'm beginning to loose patience and want instant gratifications with a bigger datnoid.:D Let's hear your opinion. Is it worth it to you and why?

joe if you want instant gratification you need to talk to house 64. for me its actually gratifying watching them grow out. BTW ill take that v bar if your bored!!!

man its just great to watch them grow not for them to just buy them huge then you have no attachment........ or atleast thats personal opinion :)

I'd say it's worth it, getting IT's stable most of the time based on your set up and maintenance regime is harder when bought at a larger size and the previous owners who grew them out had different habits. I sold off all my largers IT's due to this.

Previous owners never used lights so it was a struggle w/ them hiding and just being blacked out. Even after many different tank set ups as well as lighting changes they were stable once and a while and still hid a lot. Because of that experience I will not own another dat unless it's a ST.

Stick w/ it. Goodluck.

Can I put my dat in your tank and pick it up 8 months later?:naughty:

first, its only been a week or two. do you really expect instant gratification???
another thing, most of us who had datnoids before shouldve known it will take months to years to grow them into nice sizes. i think most of the people who bought baby indos are prepared and know what they're getting themselves into.

and i also agree with growing them out. they get used to you and what you want them to eat, instead of months switching them to safer foods. they also get used to their surroundings. my babies are getting stable now, most of them are showing nice gold and black stripes already.:naughty:

its just a matter of patience. not unless you have an armatus that grows atleast 1" a month, i dont think we should expect instant gratification with dats.

I like growing them out!

I do get egar and want full sized ones but its fun to grow them out!

i like growing them out but it takes way to long for them to grow...
