New to the whole sump thing but what if i had a tank made of tempered glass would i still be able to work a sump somehow or would it be out of the question?

How easy do you think this would be for someone who isn't very handy with tools and can't tell how many inches something is? I know theres tape measures and such.

you won't have any problems, just read all the thead and you'll be fine, im making one myself

IMO: An overflow box is a bad idea. It cannot give you a 100% operation guarantee which is needed otherwise if the overflow stops for whatever reason (Usually after a power failure) and the siphon doesn't start back up then all the water in the sump will be pumped out into the tank. This will most likely cause a minor flood. Now I know people who swear by these things and have never had a problem. But, that's just not how I do things. I like to be able to say there is absolutly no way my tanks can flood, Because it was designed right from the begining.

its not a overflow box,,these syphon's do restart after a power cut, if you get your sump size right a flood can never happen;)
