Do you keep Severum with plants?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do. The big Mellon sword plants seem to be safe. Crytp seems to do well. anubias did ok but mine eat the new soft growth. I find feeding a good plant based flames helps keep they from going crazy on the plants.

Mine get zucchini everyday, don't care for kale or romaine, though. My amazon swords, melon swords, survive but are a bit "lacey". My sevs don't seem to care too much for java fern. I wouldn't count mine as typical though, since all of them are belligerent bullies with attitudes about the size of Texas.

I have a Sev in one of my planted tanks for over a year and he never bothers them I feed him Hakari Excell & Peas so he gets all the plant matter he needs from that and leaves the plants alone.

Thanks, I have two, 2 inches severums with an oscar (6 inch, it's outgrowing them but all are happy together since I have many caves). I'm trying out a big amazon sword and two big anubias. The tip of some of the anubia leaves are damage, same with the amazon sword. The plants have been in the tank for about a week. From the replies I guess that some severums will accept plant and other wont. I'll find out the hard way.:headbang2
