Personally I like buying fish as babies and growing them out in my tanks - part of the "husbandry" part of the hobby for me. But I know lots of people buy full-grown fish. What do you guys prefer?

some fish babies but most i want to be large

Most i have raised as babies, but my 22" pacu was a rescue. I prob. wouldnt' have gotten a pacu otherwise. I enjoy watching them grow up, but at this point the fish i get depend on what tank they are going in. they would have to be big enough to survive with the fish that I have.

carnt wait for my twin snakeheads to grow personally,

i do enjoy geting fish as babies an growing them,

altho 2 good sized oscars kinda stop me buying small babies :p

haha yea, I guess the prospective tankmates do impact the decision making!

Let's say you had a brand new, empty monster tank.. babies or full-grown? (Assuming both were available). Me, I think I'd still go babies and wait for them to grow into the tank.

I like to get them as small as possible, and then watch them grow... Its always nice to look at that full grown fish in your tank and then look back at pics of them growing. Kind of like pics of your children....

Burt:)

small and watch them grow of course

babys if possible cichlids especially get along better when raised together from when small

Babies, it's just more fun, and I get more of a feeling of accomplishment, and pride.

I have always bought small fish and watched them grow. However, I would like to skip the waiting some day and just go buy a full grown glass banger.
