Hello ; I moved into a new place last year with a different type heat and noted excess humidity last winter with only three tanks set up. I have been considering an dehumidifier for this coming winter. My previous home had oil heat and the issue there was adding moisture. The new place has a heat pump and is a less expensive heat but unplesant.
I run an industrial dehumidifier... the kind they use when houses flood.
I have about 50 running (covered) tanks in my fish room (basement), but I also have a 1500 gallon uncovered koi tank down there as well. And there are no windows, only Belco Doors.

Yes, i've run into the same windowless basement problem. Hence the dehumidifier.
Question, is the water the dehumidifier collects safe to add back into the tanks? I've wondered this since it is collecting moisture from the air, would it not condense impurities from the air as well?

This is debatable without scientific proof, but I def wouldn't do it. There are metal parts that the water is constantly in contact with, and these parts don't take long to start corroding. I'm sure a dangerous amount of heavy metal would build up in your water and cause health issues in a short amount of time. I do also believe that any impurities will be picked up as well.
