Do you stoop and scoop, or siphon as it were?

My 13 inch Midas poops like a small dog. I tend to clean up his mess when he goes. He's quite regular, even chosing to go in the same place every time. Anyway, this method keeps the water quite clean and I think he likes when I do it, not even attacking the siphon when its full o' poop!

Do you stoop and siphon?

I second that siphon is much better, as you get a WC in there as well. I have a habit of doing this now!

My 180 gallon is always poop free when I'm around, and I love the crispiness of it and so do the fish. So overall everyone is happy in the end.

My 120 is bare bottom, if I start to see build up on the bottom Ill clean it. I use a 1" tube with 3/8" hose to siphon crap off the bottom between water changes. It removes the waste and not all the water.

Oh I know, I was just making a play on words, i.e. the term used for dogs etc.

I just went downstairs now, fed Red, my Midas, then siphoned his Midas poop.

It's a win win.

my goldfish tanks take care of themselves, in that the goldfish re-process the poop. it's quite efficient/economical i'd say

Siphon. My oscar likes to keep an eye on the siphon and usually bites it a few times to show whos boss of the tank. One time he tried to eat a piece of gravel as it came out but luckily did not swallow.
