I getting a custom tank rimless of course 120 gallon 48 x 24 x24 and want to purchase a stand for it but they really cost a lot.I was wondering if i could i use long sturdy dresser as a stand? And if not can i add on to a dresser to make it strong enough?Would it be cheaper if i did it myself or went to a wood shop?Someone please give me some insight in the situation.I don't want to have any regrets in a long run.

Build a custom one. It wont cost too much.

A dresser wont hold the 1000+ pounds of that tank, at least not safely. It is a very bad idea.

x2 unless it's an old solid wood one. and even then I honestly wouldn't trust it.. DIY forum is your friend.. you'll find all the info you need about building your own stand and how to/cost estimate ect.

A dresser is made to hold clothes not a fish tank.

I really think the design of the dresser would cause you much grief one day.

I've helped a few friends reinforce their dressers to hold larger tanks. Just be sure to support the middle really well. Though I might add I've only gone as far as 90 gallons.

This. Agreed.

125g is 1400lbs. Think of the 4 largest people you've ever met. If you think they could all safely sit on top of the dresser at the same time...

thanx every1 for ur advice i think im just gonna go ahead and build 1 myself or find a shop that will make one 4 me
