Thinking about switching out my bulbs for my FRT.

Do you think there is a need for special lighting with FRTs?

FRT owners - Do you use any special lighting? If so what kind and why?

FRTs are non-basking so herp lights are not needed. I provide indirect sunlight to a third of each FRT's tank so they can get the D3 vitamin they need to be able to assimilate calcium.

not sure with FRT... but don't all reptiles need uv light to absorb vitamon A? and if they don't have it the get problems with their eye's?

If you expose your FRT to UV light, it'll need vitamin A (retinol) to help prevent blindness from the UV.

So does it matter if the sunlight goes through glass or are you providing your sunlight without going through glass at all?

so my next question is how much indirect sunlight should i be giving my frt? a couple of hours on the weekend?

take into account to do this i will have to setup an outdoor pool or tub for her to see some indirect sunlight...

My FRTs get about 8 hours of indirect sunlight a day. I don't have to put them in an outdoor pond to provide this since my hatchery utilizes a great invention... windows.
