State of Emergency
I wanted to provide caves for my Africans, but instead of the usual clay pots and such I thought clear glass bowls, jars etc. would be sweet.

So far I put one jar in, I thought they would be able find the door. The thing is, they have trouble getting out:nilly: . Not that they don't get out, it just takes a while and a few bumps:wall:. I guess, perhaps I just need to let some algae grow.

I might just take it out & nix the idea.

I had a glass jar in my convict tank and the male loved it.
He would just sit in it and watch me.
He could get out no problem. Maybe he learned or was just smart.
Never saw him bump into it or anything, he really liked it.
I don't think it's cruel.
Prolly ur's will learn soon?!?

It isn't a glass jar, well it isn't glass or a jar, but when I made my hood, I had some leftover plexi glass. I propped it up on the side of my tank and the columbian shark i have dug it out so now he, my datnoid, and my blue crab all hide in it. Today I found the blue crabs molt!:headbang2

put plants in them add light to it and.... (poof!) you got some carzy algae growth.! lol.

not cruel i may say, i also do the same for my cons. took a few bumps till they figure out how to go out... :) fishes are not that dumb ya know! :naughty:

Paint a few stripes on it ( like camo paint) it helps a little and makes them more comfortable in it 'cause they think they're hiding, otherwise it doesn't perform a function except to you.
