I find that besides aeration and water movement it calms fish...even the ones I have who are pretty neutral to bubblers A lot of times they seem to distract chasing and the fish just like to 'drift' through them, For the 225 I have large airdisks. They were previously along the back wall in a vertical position but I decided to move them down against the sand to maximize the bubble area. Its been a hit.

I have it so that the bubble streams, powerheads and hob waterfalls all converge in the same area on both sides of the tank. The water is now ice clear (was battling cloudy water for weeks). I believe siphoning and unintentionally removing some sand upset the bio balance of the tank which caused the cloudiness. I also have been dosing pond bio cleaner (bacteria strains). Dosage is 1 'squirt' per 100 gallons but I found that to be too much. The pump head puts out a LOT. A 32 ounce bottle treats 20,000 gallons. I'm using a drop with better results and less 'mud' filter pads.

The air disks are 6 inches.

HRP Pip, Rainbow Pepper, Acaras Rocky/Jazz ignore bubbles.
Syno Spot likes the bubbles and will lay on an air disc. Syno Cash ignores.

Corn the Severum swims around the bubbles, and is curious. Sometimes he sits by an air disc.
Boss the BP is also curious. He will eat stray pellets off an air disc while the bubble spray goes around his head.
Bobo the Choc swims around the bubble stream sometimes.

Brick (Oscar) LOVES the bubbles. He will sleep next the discs. Sometimes he rests his head in the bubbles or lays across the discs and gets a 'bubble shower' over his middle. He also swims through them like a curtain all day. The air disc I put in his pit weeks ago he hasn't moved once.

None of my fish seem to care. They’re boring.
Crayfish I’ve had love them though (likely to get more air).
