State of chaos
My doctor had a fish in the 80's that he said:
Was caught yearly in the Palisades
Was a sucker-mouthed fish
mayve had whiskers
bred in captivity
mayve bear live young, although i explained how fish instinctually hide eggs so he probably missed them
lived/bred in 5 gallons
one was dark, one was albino
Could they have beed released Ottos? He called em "Algae Fish.)
I gave him a page of drawings (my drawings are supposedly realistic and a fish can be ID'd from it) and he didnt rule out Pleco, Clown Pleco, Algae Eater, Otto, White Sucker)

so is he wanting the fish he used to have, or are you just telling us a bunch of random stuff? Don't think it'll be all that easy to figure out what kind of fish he's trying to describe, but goodluck

as it gets so cold then you could probably rule out the following from your list of possibles: Clown Pleco, Algae Eater and Otto.
i cant say about a white sucker cos i have no idea what that is, ive never come across that common name.
i partly agree with bruce though, some kind of pleco is a possibility. maybe not a BN plec as the bristles would be kind of unforgettable. some of the more common types of plecs are incredibly tough and can survive some very harsh conditions. i know from experience that BN plecs can survive over 30mins outside water in a house without heating on, doesnt get much tougher than that for a fish.

i do find it doubtful you will find the fish seeing that his memory cant distinguish between an otto and clown plec. they dont even look remotely similar.
