I am one who is not to proud to admit, 'Hey, we lose one now and then..'

This was a gorgeous ray that was from our last import. These pics were tooken about 3 minutes after she hit the water. Unfortunetly the flight was delayed and these rays had a very long bag time. This is the only one we lost :)

This photo shoot was over a 20-30 minute period, and as you can see this ray was extremely stressed. When a ray shows signs like this one did, there is very little that can be done to save it.

Since many people don't get to see first hand what Death Curl for a stingray looks like, I thought this would be a good place to share for fellow ray keepers. I also find most exotic fish keepers may find this quite interesting.

Enjoy.

I wonder if there is a cure for death curl?

Perhaps not enough of us have experienced it on a frequent basis to undertand it and diagnose a treatment for it? I wonder if some sort of calming tranquilizer like clove oil could possibly calm a ray? I wonder if there is some special herbal extract that will save a ray? There are alot of possibilities! I would love to find out!

As common as Motoro stingrays are in South America, if a scientist really wanted to find out, they could set up a lab. Intentionally have the rays curl, and test different medications. I know it sounds cruel, but Motoro stingrays are a nuisance species in South America and they are often killed by farmers out of fear of being stung. They are also very high in numbers. Could be interesting!

sorry for your loss,I always feel that I failed the fish when I lose one regardless of how or why they go :(
