So I just got off the plane from my long trip and while i'm waiting around at the airport to get picked-up I end up talking with a guy and he has a 150 gallon set-up to sell me for 100.00 delivered :naughty:
He had pics on his phone and I don't see any center braces. I don't remember seeing any with out them. No he didn't cut them out and says he has been using it that way for years. I just don't need 150 gallons of water on my floor. Any info please?

a co-worker of mine has a 150 without a center brace, its been running for years. Honestly you cant beat that deal, worst case senario you get a frame with a center brace. that is hard to pass up

Old aquariums were built without center braces. To compensate, they used thick glass. Tanks weighed a ton. LOL!

I remember seeing old 75's and 55's without it just don't seem to remember a 150 without one. Yes i'm getting it it's coming here this Sat. getting leak tested then set right up.

I have an old 125 without a center brace. Holds just fine.. Glass is almost as thick as my 240. Weighs a ton.

However, this means that with no center brace, you can only have the stupid crappy plastic lids. I ended up making a glass center brace and end braces to hold glass tops.

Yeah I got a 6 foot 150 about 6 months ago that didn't have a center brace either - very thick glass and frame though. Ending up making a wood frame to fit over the plastic trim with a center brace of its own, mainly just cause I wanted to use 2 glass tops.
