Achatina achatina

The worlds largest known land snail, ive read they are rare in the wild due to over hunting.

Really damn, I guess I can't own some then. But i would still like to know if someone in other countries are trying to or have had success breeding these beautiful giants, and to hopefully make the species more abundant.

Achatina achatina are being cb in Europe, however most cb ones are much smaller then wild cauth ones, people think is due to diet. But dont worry they wont go extinct anytime soon :)

they reproduce 'geometrically' because they are hermaphrodites.

they basically can have a population skyrecket and i think they reach sexual maturity at like 2yrs (which i kinda long) but can live for upto ten years.

As far as i know, they're easy to breed.
They mate burrow and lay and females can store sperm.

Sorry i know i haven't really answered ur question but i don't think they're going to be extinct anytime soon. They're an important food source too.

The one that is a important food source and which has skyrocket populations is Achatina fulica, a much more prolific and easier to breed species. This species is much more delicate and slow growing.
