I'm tossing some ideas around. I'm wondering if I had a good uv filter for a freshwater tank if I could keep it in sunlight. The sun passes bye this widow in the evening. It's glass on both front and back so I could see it from inside my house and passersbye could also see it.

my 130 is in the dinning room and there are about 9 windows. my tank gets a good dose of direct sunlight everyday and i just turned my UV sterilzer on and my water is crystal clear again,

If you make it a planted tank it will look killer. Natural light makes the plants and fish look awesome IMO. If I could, I would have all my tanks near windows. But yes, you will need a good UV sterilizer. I wouldn't recommend that you position it to close to the window or visible from outside. If it is to close to the window you may wind up with big temperature shifts. And if it can be seen from outside don't be surprised if a rock comes through your window.

ive got a 30 gallon next to a window and it gets about 3 hours of sunlight that falls on it in the evening, no uv sterilizer and never had an issue with anything.. only a fluval45 on it
