I was wondering if any forum members have autisum? And how does it affect you.

I have autisum, im like to have a routine and if things change i get upset. I worry about the little things, and life. I also have depression, when my father was in hospitial and nearly died, i was extremely depressed and spent a lot of time in my self. I was much more withdrawn and did feel genuinley suicidal.

Forum members helped me threw it especially LIZ and Dawn (PFK)

This is not a thread for bullying.

One of my dad's friends son has autism. He is a little withdrawn and quiet, but once you put that kid on a dirt bike its ridiculous. That kid is so fast.

I don't have autism but do have ocd so i know what you mean about routine's ,I was my grandmother's main carer up utill 27th of july (my birthday was 23rd) when she died and it really done my head in and my routine's help to keep me sane , my family think i get a bit obsesive but i say i'm just passionate.

I had neighbors that had two kids with autsism. They had Big bucks though and sent them down to some speical school in florida. And they both came back fine and there mother taught then enlish, french and spanish BEFORE they were in first grade.

Amazing kids.... To bad all kids don't get the chances those to have.

Forgive my ignorance, but I thought autistic people were pretty much dysfunctional.
Are there different levels of autism? Or just ways to learn to deal with it? And what defines you as autistic? At what point do you say "Yep, that guy is autistic."

condition disturbing perceptions and relationships: a disturbance in psychological development in which use of language, reaction to stimuli, interpretation of the world, and the formation of relationships are not fully established and follow unusual patterns

Kind of vague. I know lots of "normal" people that would fall into that category.

i got ocd, everthing has to be perfect like i wont sleep unless all the coathangers in the wardrobe are facing the same way.
i always like to have my dresser drawer closed, and dont like to have light colored stuff on my floor when i sleep cuz it distracts me from sleeping but i still can sleep

You'd be surprised at how many people have mild to very mild cases of conditions like this, it is up to the discretion of the person diagnosing.

I have aspergers syndrom but I have learned to work with it as I grow older. For anyone who doesn't know, AS is like autism minus the difficulty communicating, well sort of. My family thought I was weird when I was a child because I used very advanced language, and what wasn't advanced was very odd (characteristic of AS). I also like to close myself off mentally, which is why I like all inclusive hobbies.

I used to take medication, but now take a cognitive approach to it. Works pretty well, although I have spells still.

For me i have to check the door's are locked and plug socket's are all of (except the tank's like) usually a couple of times before i go to bed it drives me mad sometime's but can't sleep unless i check.Sorry for being a bit of topic bruce.Good to know i'm not the only one with odd habit's though ,that's why i like "monk" i'd like to keep anti-bacterial wipes on me at all times but my brother would take the p**s to much.
