I wonder if anybody has experience with ripsaw catfish, my lfs has one and the owner said it is the most peaceful fish ever, he has it in a 360 gallon with some temensis (8-10 inches), a giant gourami (1.5 feet), some bala sharks (around 12 inches), some plecos (around 1-1.5 feet) and a pike (around 8 inches). I'd love to get one when I get older and have a larger tank, I'd have him in with a gar, lung fish, bichirs, and other ancient fish

I have a tiger shovelnose x rip saw I got from Tom Maguire Tom Maguire does that count?

I have the actual photo provided by the seller but not of the actual fish because I'm too lazy. I may take a picture of the fish itself if you annoy me enough. I'll post a link to one of the sale threads where Tom is selling the hybrid.

I have a Ripsaw that is 15 years old. Gentle giant of a fish. I got him at 1 3/4 inches long and 6 months later he was 1 foot. He never eats other fish, i think he might accidental eat a baby if it got in his mouth, but that's it. Great fish, just be ready to have one that will end up very big. Mine is 28" long and that is with controlled feeding in a 240. I didn't want him outgrowing it too fast. He was a rescue from a lfs that was going to let him die after being beaten up by Oscars, my wife shamed the owner into giving him to her. Only problem I've had was when I had an Ashara catfish as big as him, they fought, so I got rid of the Ashara. That was years ago when he wasn't so big. He knocked the 1/4 inch glass off the tank and jumped out after fighting with the Ashara. Now he eats out of my hand. I'm going to have to drive from Atlanta to Ohio to the guy up there who saves big fish if I can't find a home in the Atlanta or Chattanooga Aquariums for him. There don't seem to be many Monster Fish People in the Atlanta area that could take him, that I have seen. Hope that helps.

I'd think twice about trying to give the monster fish rescue guy your fish. I read a post from him on this site several years back that said he was having problems keeping it running. Email him first and make sure to ask him if it's alright before just randomly showing up on his door with the fish.

yeah that's exactly what I heard about them, I was thinking of getting a 1000 gallon tank or so when I'm older and having some bichirs, a ripsaw catfish, a lungfish, a gar, and some eels in there as a prehistoric tank. I know at the Ohio Fish Rescue they already have a ripsaw catfish, the things are so cool and so peaceful, the owner of my one lfs said that he is the most peaceful giant fish he has ever kept, he has a temensis in there with it and he said the temensis wouldn't eat pellets, only live food so he had to use feeders and he said the ripsaw catfish refused to eat the feeders, they almost remind me of a giant mix between a pleco and a cory cat

Thanks for the info, I'll check first, of course. I recently saw a post about him supplying fish to some city aquariums around the country. That's the best place I can think of for Mr. Snuffalupagus!
