Does anybody know if Purigen will take out Amazon Rain?

I have wondered about this general issue. not from extract, but the beneficial substances from driftwood, almond leaves etc.
Purigen removes nitrogenous waste: things that will become that.
surely not all these properties are nitrogenous, or they would be harmful, not beneficial.
?
so, is it possible that Purigen only removes the coloring in water, but leaves the ph alterations & beneficial/medicinal properties of wood and almond & oak leaves, etc?

I believe that is the case. It doesn't affect the water levels at all but I have to believe that by removing the tannins and extracts from the almond leaves, that it is in fact removing a lot of the nutrients as well.

+1

I am wanting to use some Purigen again this weekend.

I added discus buffer and amazon rain to my tank a few days ago.

Will purigen lower nitrates but also strip everything from the water, since it does not affect the ph my water should stay soft and also have the minerals from amazon rain not be messed with?

I had a nitrite boost this weekend so I added an XP4 stuffed with Purigen to filter the water. I also added Eheim Substrate to the first 25 percent of my wet dry. I added Stability and Prime and Discus buffer and did 2 water changes. I cant seem to get the Nitrites below 30.

Any advice would be appreciated.
