why not? people go into inhospitable environments all the time. we put a lot of effort into it too.
maybe the fish are just curious and the only reason we don't have little fish airships floating all over is because they don't have opposable thumbs.

Actual predator and perceived predator are two very different things. One might get spooked and trigger a lot of them over something as simple as a shadow moving.
As for other fish that are air breathers, I've seen arapaima and tarpon clear the water.
