I thought wow he is getting a brownish color to one of his molars already.. then i read that collies are prone to this.. well i could see all those vet bills from having his teeth periodically cleaned so i decided to buy a little dental
kit and see if i could prevent that from happening.. i bought a metal scraper and two toothbrushes and toothpaste made especially for dogs.. the first couple of tries were aggrivating because he fought me but once he had a taste of the toothpaste he actually started to enjoy it.. as you can see here... now brushing is a breeze and he looks forward to it... and his teeth are pearly white....:DAnyone else do this?dog brushing teeth 001.JPG

I brush my beagles teeth every now and again. Not daily but about 1-2 times a week. My dad uses him as a hunting dog and he has an affinity for eating random smelly things so he gets his teeth brushed after that too :)

My wife used to brush our dogs' teeth but only like once a week...then she just kind of stopped all together.

On a side note....what is a "mental scraper"? I think I need one.

I have tried with my ferret, but not with any success, they will have none of it. Maybe I need to find a better tasting toothpaste, what brand do you use?

Its the metal item in the pic... it scapes off the initial tarter built up on the tooth... the stuff that the vet would clean off the teeth got really bad..i ued it on his one tooth.. put a little toothpaste flavor on the scraper and poof that was gone..

My dog loves it ....Dr Foster and Smith tarter control...maybe they even have something special for a ferret.

Those are nice and white! My dogs are getting tartar build up on their canines. It doesn't really bother me that bad but the bad breath does.
