Like the title says, just wondering if anyone else feeds raw diets. Commercial, or home-made. I started a few months ago with Primal patties, my dog's appetite has increased, her coat looks really good, and her poops are 1/3 the size. Just wondering if anyone else around here has tried this out, what they feed, and how the experience has been. I'm also looking for some cost-saving advice, as food @ $3+ /lb adds up quickly for larger dogs.

P.S. please do not respond with flames about dangers of raw diets, just looking for friendly advice or experiences.

Don't worry about what people will tell you when it comes to raw feeding , ive been doing it for a long time.. Before kibbles what do u think they eat? ;) I feed my dogs raw every other day... Kinda gives them a break from the typical boring dog food..... Try satin balls... It's made out of raw ground beef pretty easy to make.. Online recipes are all similar..... My dogs coat are shiny, they're healthier.. Less visits to the vet...

I fed my two dogs a raw diet for about 3 months. They looked better, their feces was smaller, didn't smell as bad, and disintegrated much quicker, and they didn't seem as incessantly hungry as before (still very excited for every meal though).

I couldn't keep up with it because I couldn't find a cheap source of quality food nearby. I ended up spending about triple on the raw diet what I was on a kibble diet.

If you can buy the raw foods in bulk and freeze it, then you can get the costs down to where its comparable to a kibble diet, I just wasn't able to do so.

I fed my dogs:

(all raw)
chicken legs/wings
chicken hearts and gizzards
chicken necks
stew beef chunks
ground chuck
eggs
cottage cheese
yogurt
green beans
banana (occasionally as a treat)
carrots
broccoli

They seemed to like it and were healthier than on kibble, but I simply couldn't afford to keep it up. Hopefully I can move back to it in the future.
