If you have granite in your tank to create caves, have you had problems getting the water clear?

I am probably just overfeeding my fish to create cloudy water, but I am wondering if all the granite I have put in is a cause for the cloudiness.

looks nice did you really rinse the stones before placing them in your tank?

I scrubbed them with a tire brush, no soap, in running water. They did not make the water cloudy at all, the same couldnt be said for the sandstone. Let it settle a day and see if your tank clears up. You may have stirred the substrate some. If you are overfeeding, you will be able to smell it.

chaitika has granite tile in his Super Red Aro tank.

I just hosed off the rocks and scrubbed them with a wire brush. They didn't cloud my water at all.

I have a chuk of granite that I use in tanks occasionally. Never had any problems.

True granite is actually a very hard and insoluble rock. It should be perfect for aquaria.
Compare that to sandstone, which is soft and relatively soluble .... personally I wouldn't use it in aquaria.
