I'm seriously obsessing over these headphones right now, but I want to know I'm making the right choice before I spit out a wad of cash. Does anyone personally own these or use these regularly? I understand that this is a fish site, but that doesn't mean everyone's only passion is fish, right??? Well, actually idk, it actually doesn't sound like such a bad life... hmmm i'll have to think about that. But anyways, yea i want some feedback on these guys. It's online ratings are off the charts, but i know companies that pay random people to give them good reviews (i've taken 2 business classes, i know all the tricks).

Also, assuming that I do end up getting these, I can't decide which version to get: the coiled wire or the straight wire. I'm leaning toward the straight wire purely for aesthetic reasons, but if the majority says coiled and gives me a good reason, i guess I'll take a risk and get coiled. THANKS MFK!!! <3

Here's a picture of them for anyone else who's looking for new quality headphones:

Although I'm familiar with Audio Technica, I'm not familiar with this particular set of headphones. I have a pair of BOSE QC-3's, which I think are excellent and their noise cancellation superbly reduces engine hum, when in flight. I've tested the new Dr. Dre headphones from Monster. They're also impressive. I'm not trying to talk you out of your purchase. I'm just suggesting a little food for thought.

I just read a little about the ATH-M50's and they are designed for studio use, so you probably would not need the noise cancellation when flying. Good luck.

Thanks, i've been doing a little bit of research and so far everyone i've come across says that BOSE and the BEATS are overrated. I've personally tested the Beats at Best Buy and know how beautiful they sound, but my only problem (which has caused it to be eliminated in my choice) is that it leaks like crazy. I listen to rap/hip-hop and most of what I listen to isn't PG to say the least and since I'm what my friends call, "a musicaholic" at school, I didn't think it would be the best fit. But no doubt it was my second pick for its trendy style and superb hype.

Bose, is one that I can't put my 2 cents in. I understand the hype and rave that this company has, but i've never personally tested them out. The only thing I can work off of is user feedback posted online, and the only thing I've found is that they are overrated; good heaphones but not the best for the cash.

Bose makes a good headphone. Also, Bose has some of the best customer service out there. I have a friend who purchased an old Sound Dock and he called them after having the old unit for about a year. He asked them if he could trade them back in the the new Sound Dock Portable. They agreed to take is old unit back and send out a new unit for only $180. They go beyond what most companies do, in the area of customer service. Once a Bose customer, always a Bose customer. That's their philosophy. I have the Sound Dock Portable and QC-3 headphones and I'm content with their performance when compared to other products. Audio Technica is also a good company. I had a pair of their headphones back in the 80's. Relative to their time, they were good headphones.

These are fairly decent. They sound decent for midrange phones. The coiled wire is just annoying in my opinion.

Question, are you producing music or listening for pleasure? These can get uncomfortable after long periods. And they are closed style, so they keep the noise pollution down, but raise the moisture level in your ear. They can cause bacteria levels to raise in your ear..

If you are listening for pleasure or plan to wear these for extended amounts of time. I have a suggestion that you may want to look into.

Let me know.:D

But, yes these are quality headphones with very rich sound.

Yes, these are only for listening for pleasure. I'm open to suggestions, but I just got a response from the seller and he said he can sell these to me for $90 which seems like a steal, so i might go with that unless your option is under say $120 shipped. And i have heard of the moisture level thing being high and bacteria levels raising in the ear from other sources, but I think I'm willing to take the risk. I'm fine with the moisture levels as long as it doubles as a "sort of" noise reducer. I have read that it is not a noise-cancellation device. I don't need it to block out a jackhammer nextdoor, but i would like it to make conversations around me inaudible while the music is playing.

Yes, i have in earbuds from these guys that were $60 and they tore in the first month. I haven't yet gotten to test the warranty/customer service with them yet, but plan to in the future, but IMO the earbuds didn't blow me away. Actually, IMO they were almost exactly the same as the $4.99 replacement earbud headphones that I bought afterwards, except the sennheisers had a stronger bass note.
