I picked up a cracked 450g acrylic tank 8x3x3.5
I picked up some Weld-On 4 ... but this is going to take some serious work

The bottom has a ~7' crack across the bottom, and 3 of the 4 corners seams need "resealed" top to bottom

The seams connecting the top to the 4 sides and the bottom to the 4 sides are fine. They have a large industrial strength "welded" seam. The corners don't have any of that, which probably had something to do with the original failure.

Does anyone local have any experience working with acrylic tanks?

Or do any of you DIY guys have any pointers?

*I can try and get pictures if you think that would help, but I don't think it really matters. You can't see the problems with the sides until you push on it, and they slide apart very slightly. The bottom is pretty obvious, if you move the tank, the crack opens up 1-2"

Just call a local plastic shop. Surely one of them would be willing to do it for you. Although, it is pretty easy to do. Just messy.

Although i have never done a tank bigger than a 220.

What we did to reseal the side seams was used a syringe to inject the weld on #4 between the 2 pieces and then used ratchet straps made for securing cargo as clamps. (wood working clamps could work as well)

The weld on #4 evaporates pretty fast. So you really only have time to do one seam at a time. Unless you have a buddy to work one while you work the other. Then you can get 2 done per clamping.

The crack on the bottom can be repaired by buying a piece of plexi the same thickness, but longer than the crack by a few inches. And then gluing it over the crack. I would use weld on #16 for that and then put lots of weight on top of the new piece over night.

#16 is as thick as model car cement. But it does a better job of bonding because it doesn't evaporate like the #4 does. But the #4 needs to be used in the seams because its a capillary solvent. Meaning it will draw in between 2 pieces. You could go over the seams with the #16 on the inside if you wanted afterwards.

good luck to ya.
